Surfer Magazine – My Dad Rips!

Thanks for giving me the “Seal of Approval”. How is that for a corny dad joke!

On Father’s Day, this article was featured in Surfer Magazine online. The article was called, “My Dad Rips!”.  I was pretty stoked to myself as one of the featured surfers even though I was jealous of the sick waves the other guys were riding! It was also cool to have some other fathers in the article too such as the famous Joel Parkinson and Shane Dorian.

You know why being in this article means so much to me? It is because I am able to represent fathers who spend time with their children. The list is not about ripping at all. I applaud Surfer Magazine for creating an article that is about fatherhood and not about having a contest. The list is comprised of professional surfers and past contest surfers. It contains fathers of current professional surfers. But I feel the most important aspect it that it has plain old fathers. Guys that have never been in the industry. The guy who works hard everyday and goes on a surf trip once a year. But on his down time, the guy who spends time with their children.

Want to be a hero to your child? Spend time just being there for your child. You will a dad who rips!

Thanks to SRPhoto for the picture! You rock!

To Mulletkiller…I know you are going to send me a comment stating that the animal is a SeaLion…not a seal. I know!
