Extra Sticky Wax – A Quick Tip

Can this be the best place for your extra-sticky tar pit wax?

This is in regards to the many species of sticky wax out there that can create a headache for its users. We know the offenders…FU Wax, Punt, and Tikiwaxx are only a few that are available. I covered this terrible aspect in my review of Punt Wax which can be read here: https://thesidewedge.wordpress.com/2012/06/26/review-of-punt-surf-wax/

The issue is that it is extremely messy and smears around when applied to the board. Well, thanks to a person who is smarter than I am…here is a tip that I tested out and it works!

Think Like a Superhero!

In every superhero movie, what does the hero do to destroy a large villain and especially one that is made of metal? They hit them with an element to deep freeze them of course! Then they become brittle and then they can dispose of their foe.

Well, that is the answer with this goop. You have to pop the wax into the freezer so it loses its stickiness and becomes a rigid bar of wax. Then you just wax your board with it as normal. In its frozen state, the wax will apply in an even way. Then as you begin your journey to the beach, the wax will warm up and you will now have an even coat of mayhem on your entire board.

Hope that helps!

I hope I don’t have to write about wax for another 6 months!
