Today I have been blessed with no surf contest so that means that I can do cool things like clean out my refrigerator and remove cobwebs from my foyer. You can’t beat that!
As for my team…
Julian Wilson – Solid results in less than stellar surf. Has Travis Logie and Glen Hall in first heat.
Jordy Smith – Good form. Manageable first heat.
Taj Burrow – Has Toledo whom I dropped. Could be a huge mistake but I did not want to risk the chance of having 3 way friendly fire depending on how the surfers are seeded after the trials.
Yadin Nichol – Manageable first round. Could be a sacrifice for the higher priced guys.
Brett Simpson – Simpson on paper should do well. He rips in small surf. Yet he struggles with icing heats he should win. Surfing against Bede and Michael B. Could be the chance to get a win in and help out his year.
Messias Felix – He is from Ceara and surfs junk like a champ. He pops airs at will and hangs out with Heitor Alves. World Qualifying Series warrior. Could upset a few people if things go his way.
Kolohe Andino – Another small wave wizard. First heat is C.J. Hobgood and Ace. Problem is that he could face Toledo in round 3.
I had to remove Pat Gudauskas. Pat’s first heat is a dog fight. A great show to watch online but not for a team.
A real long shot if either wins the trails would be Simao Romao or Ricardo dos Santos. Simao is a local at Arpoador and knows the spot like the back of his hand. Both can mix up their turns. But like I said…a huge gamble.
