August is always a busy month for me. In the past, August and September seemed to bring a wide array of surfing contests that one could enter. However, as the years have come and gone, August has changed into a busy time for more nefarious reasons. Reasons such as renewing my driver’s license and registration. Taking my son to a new school. Basically fun things that take away your time and take away from your bank account balance. The result being that I have been a bit disconnected from the surfing scene. Well, you can’t hide forever and it is time to post up my picks for the Billabong Pro Tahiti!
Trestles in California is one of those surf spots in which the same surfer is favored no matter what the conditions. If it is 4 foot Trestles or 6 foot Trestles, the same airs will probably end up being completed. Tahiti and Fiji are way different. If it is smaller, then just about anyone could take down a heat. If it is really south, once again it is a different kind of wave. It is longer and barrels but the mutant factor vanishes. But if it turns big and is from the west, well, we know what happens then! Then the break favors the Fannings, Slaters, and the guys with a lot of experience. Sadly, a mega-west swell at this moment does not seem to be materializing.
Why This Team??
Sadly due to history more than anything and Anthony Walsh because he got 2nd in the trails and charges macking Pipeline.
So it will be a toss-up for sure. Could be an opportunity for some dark horse to gain some valuable points.
