Happy Holidays!

Howdy members of The Side Wedge family and just general passerby’s!

I just wanted to say thanks for everyone who has signed on to read my nonsense and to the wonderful humans who comment on my site.

I do have a lot of amazing people who are kind enough to drop by. Some of you amaze me with your talents. On the blogging side, there are a few who lead some packed lives. They hold down full time jobs, juggle their family life, and write books! Then they promote their books, comment to their hundreds of followers, and somehow drop by to leave some insightful comments! There is a full-time student who also manages to act and perform opera in front of thousands and manage a site and promote her gigs…and then there are the countless folks who read this that love surfing and traveling as much as I do. A group bonded by a common love of the sea.

Finally, there is Spot On. My old sparing partner and supporter. This guy has helped me in more trying times than the law allows.

This year on a personal level has been trying to say the least. But there has some been some bright moments. I received a promotion at my day job and I went from working late at night in a huge resort that was way to far from the ocean to working in the day time at a smaller resort right on the beach. I also finally got married to my very long-time fiancé who has stuck around for probably a lot longer than some could manage. The joys of a long distance relationship…

As for the end of 2015…Not easy. Our small staff at work has dwindled even further so we are working extra hours and extra days to reach the new year. Then there has been the things that go along with holidays…pot luck lunches, company Christmas parties, secret Santa gift exchanges, and trying to juggle this with family events. A stress fest!

But as any person knows that works in a bar, a hotel, or a restaurant…it is only two weeks of madness and then it goes calm again as people return to work and children return to school.

Then, the clock will hit midnight and it will be 2016. A fresh start. For The Side Wedge, maybe a chance to work out what will make this site more meaningful to all who drop by.

So to everyone, I would just like to say thanks and I am looking forward to next year.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year!

One last thing! Every time I go to Brazil or travel, I put up a post that says that I am closed for business. Many times during the week, people are dropping by after putting this phrase in a search engine! It baffles me that people are reading this just as much as they are reading my stories that I spent hours creating…crying, editing, and pouring my heart out onto my keyboard.

So out of curiosity…If anyone reads this after searching for businesses with a closed sign then please drop me a line because I am curious why you were searching for this!!! People used this search term over 600 times to find my site!!!

  1. I’m wondering how how I can work ‘business with a closed sign’ into one of my posts to get more hits 😄lol, if you see it don’t bubble me 😆.
Have a great Christmas, I’ve met the most interesting people blogging I like reading your perspective.

Same here. Your commitment is inspiring to say the least. I guess though, we all have the same 24 hours and we all have issues. It is how we handle it is what separates us. We all are a work in progress. Some just work at it better than others!

So now your goal is to not only find grants but increase your blog traffic with sneaky catch phrases!

Good luck! And once again…Merry Christmas!

  2. I’m only joking Steve ☺️ I never know what gets hits, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any referrals over a phrase in one of my posts.
Fees in England only started to be charged the year my brother started University so there wasn’t a long time to plan and put up savings schemes specifically for this, fortunately the government made fees a government funded loan so it’s not so bad that it would stop me but eight years is a long time and I just need to work out if I can afford London living.
